Every woman wants to feel like a fairytale princess on her Wedding Day. Timeless Elegance is the key as these are the photos that you and generations after you will be looking at!

Know which type of gown will flatter your figure best and choose a style that best suits you. Choosing the right colour dress is also important, as a lot of brides are fair skinned and so an ivory coloured dress would suit them better than a white wedding dress.

There are 4 main types of dresses to choose from. Read the following descriptions of each so that you know which dress type best suits you….

  • A-line Dresses usually have a fitted bodice with a skirt that flares gently from the waist to form an “A” shape. The skirt is not as full as a ball gown. They suit almost any body shape and are a good choice for someone who would like to hide lower body flaws, but does not want a ball gown.
  • Ball Gowns have very full skirts and will look beautiful on any body type besides if the bride is very short and small. Ball gowns generally have a slip or petty coat that you must wear to support the shape of the gown. Be advised that this extra fabric can be heavy and bulky and will require extra care to wear.
  • Empire Waist Gowns or Baby Doll Gowns have a skirt that falls from just below the breasts. They are a great choice for a casual or weddings in a warm climate. They’re usually made of light, flowing fabric. They won’t draw as much attention to the belly as a dress with a lower waistline would, and so is perfect if you are self conscious about your tummy.
  • Sheath Gowns flatter women with thin, petite figures. This gown will not hide any flaws. Don’t try to pull it off because you found a gown you love in this   style. You don’t want to risk being uncomfortable or self conscious on your day, or regretting your choice every time you look at photos.

Many Dress shops import their Gowns and so can offer you very good prices on either buying or hiring your Dress.
If you feel daring, why not consider buying your Dress online – you will definitely find a bargain, but ensure that you know someone who would be able to make adjustments just incase!

The following shops have a large selection of dresses and have a very good name for themselves:  www.eurobride.co.za & www.brideandco.co.za
