Wedding Themes

Who said weddings had to be boring and straight down the line?
Who’s to say that you can’t add your special touch?
It is after all, YOUR wedding day!

Here are a few Wedding Theme options, to help make your day extra special!

Winter Wonderland

For a real Winter Wonderland feel (not so South African!), why not have snowflake place cards (make your own), and snowflakes hanging from the ceiling?
You can use white and blue for your table decor and a skiing couple as your cake topper?!
Another idea for your table centrepieces, is to have a mirror in the center of the table and arrange 3 wine glasses of different heights on the mirror. Fill with water and float a white flower in each. Sprinkle some glitter over the mirror and arrange some votive candles underneath the glasses.

For your attire, try simple white gowns with gold or silver trimming or beading.

Beach Wedding

For a more casual atmosphere (and if you are having your ceremony on the beach), why not supply flip flops to all of your guests? (these also help with sore feet at the end of the night from dancing!!)

You can make or buy shell gel candles for your guest favours.
For your table decor, you can have beach names for table names and sand in glass bottles for table centrepieces?

Country Wedding

You can get a bit more adventurous with Country Weddings. Your guests can wear cowboy and cow girl hats.
For the ceremony or reception entrance, decorate a wooden arch with ivy, wheat or wildflowers (ie sunflowers) Add an upright horseshoe to the centre of the arch.

Place bales of hay around the area for additional seating. Use antique looking hurricane lamps as centerpieces.

Fairytale Wedding

When I think of Fairytale Weddings, I think magical wands, twinkling stars and bubbles.
Most Fairytale Weddings are based on children’s stories or Disney movies.

Fairytale Wedding Themes are often white & pink, but you can create your own fairytale theme with whatever colours suit you.
Why not look for a frog & prince cake topper?

For centrepiece ideas, you can try glass or silver flower vases full of Fairy Tale Magic Wands.
Decorate your reception with pastel-coloured tulle, satin ribbons and bows, bells, red roses, pumpkins, coaches, and of course a red carpet.

For other decor ideas, why not have ice sculptures that depict a glass slipper, a castle or a horse carriage?

And whether you choose live performers or a DJ, go for music that matches your fairy tale wedding theme, like sound tracks from Cinderella or Beauty and the Beast or classical harp or piano music.

Black & White Wedding

A classical black and white wedding theme is still a very popular choice among couples. It is simple and sophisticated.
However, if you would like to try something a bit different, consider adding the slightest hints of one other colour as contrast, such as bright red, bright pink, emerald green or a hint of gold.

For pew markers choose large white bows with a black centre knot. Thinking of adding another colour? Attach a small silk flower in the centre of the knot in the colour of your choice.

Light up the tables with black and white floating candles in a clear bowl.
